Although the personal mobility has increased steadily in all areas of modern life, it is certainly a surprising idea to establish such a close network between two scientific institutions in Germany being geographically that far away from each other.
The excellent cooperation opportunities of my sub-groups at the Helmholtz Center Munich and at the University of Rostock, for example with the university hospital, the Proteome Center at the University or with the divisions of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences convinced me that from a scientific view it makes absolutly sense to accept the appointment to become the Chair of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Rostock, while pursuing the networking with the Helmholtz Center Munich.
